Do Organic Skin Care Products Work?

There is a fine balance between finding organic skin care products that are healthy, and ones that actually get results.

I am a bit of a skin care addict and love trying new lines … especially ones that are organic and chemical free. Checking out new natural and organic skin care products is something I am passionate about.

Obviously using chemical free products on our skin is preferable to risking cancer later in life but at the same time, we all want to see results.

You've seen those amazing before and after photos where it looks like the wrinkles literally are erased? Well … let's use some common sense, shall we?

First of all, good skin is about more than just what products you use. It also comes from drinking enough water so that our skin cells are plump and hydrated, as well as from eating the right foods and reducing stress in our lives.

Ideally, you want your skin to be a pure and natural as possible, like a new born baby. So learn to read labels for both the good and the bad.

Finding a line that is healthy but also works for your skin type may take a little experimenting on your part.

I have used and compared many different natural skin care lines and also have worked for a few different skin care companies, so I might be able to help you narrow down your search for a good organic anti aging line that you will be happy with. Below are a few beneficial ingredients to look for in aa skin care product, as well as ingredients to avoid.

First, let's look at the good ingredients … the ones that make a difference:

Hyaluronic Acid

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Vitamin C Ester

Vitamin E

Kyojic Acid

DMAE

Aloe Vera

Alpha Hydroxy and Beta Hydroxy Acids

There are a ton of ingredients to avoid in skin care and beauty products but here are a few that are high on the 'do not use' list …

Perfumes

Dyes or Coloring Agents

Pthalates

Parabens

Sodium Laurel / Laureth Sulfate

Mineral Oil or anything related to petroleum (usually starts with 'petro')

DEA

Dioxins

Propolene Glycol

Polyethelene Glycol

Formeldahyde

Glycerin

Benzophenones

Toluene

Of course, extreme raw foodists like David Wolfe will recommend things like Olive Oil or Coconut Oil for your skin, but I personally find those a bit greasy for me, and I tend to break out in pimples when I put oil directly on my skin.

Other skin care experts, like Dr. Perricone, agree that by using the right products, you can literally reverse the aging process.

Remember though, great skin and anti aging is about more than organic skin care products . Lifestyle plays a BIG role.

The time in my life I got the most wrinkles was not from the products I used or my biological age. It was the time when stress was high … especially when it came to finances.

The restless nights worrying and the nagging fear at the back of my mind when the real estate market crashed, and we lost a lot, put more wrinkles on my face than anything. A few gray hairs popped up too!

When it comes to true anti aging … good, chemical free products, healthy food, lots of water, getting enough sleep, and a financially secure life all contribute to keep you looking and feeling young.
