How Are Perfumes for Women Made?

Many people purchase perfumes for women as gifts throughout the year, and women buy it for themselves as well. Typically, no one stops to think about how the perfume is made or what goes into blending the fragrance. It might surprise you to know that womens perfume is made of many different ingredients and can contain over 100 different ingredients including plants, essential oils, and alcohol.

Most people are aware that perfumes for women come in different types, such as floral or woodsy smells, but some of the scents with an earthy smell often contain some floral that blend with the earthy tones so well that you hardly notice it, but without it, the perfume would not be the same. Therefore, it is the blend of fragrances and ingredients that make the womens perfume industry what it is today.

When it comes to making perfumes for women, you will find that there are synthetic ingredients as well as natural ingredients, when mixed together they create the final fragrance. Many womens perfume fall into different categories and subcategories because of the ingredients used.

Aquatic fragrances typically have synthetic notes that resemble crisp clean air, or freshness such as the ocean and often have a fruit or floral mixture of scents that can fall under the unisex category of fragrances. Musk scents are a good example of those that fall in the aquatic category.

Oriental and amber perfumes for women are often very heavy and have ingredients such as resins, flowers, spices, woods, and musk. These often contain amber, citrus, spicy amber, and woody amber with a bit of floral. When mixed together, the scent is distinctive and long lasting.

Modern perfumes are typically those that are made with chemicals that actually increase their scent as it warms to the skin. These include aldehydes and mostly make up the newer perfumes for women. Floral perfumes have several different flower notes to make a very feminine fragrance, and they can include several different flowers to give it the top, middle, and base notes.

Other perfumes for women are often a combination of synthetic, flowers, and earthy scents to create the final product. Once the raw materials, be it synthetic or natural have been collected, oils are extracted from the plants or flowers in a very unique method.

When the materials have all been extracted, then the blending is the final step before having the actual womens perfume is created. The oil is mixed with water and alcohol, which determines the potency and how much the perfume costs. The more oils, the more the fragrance cost, therefore you have perfume (most expensive), eau de toilette (middle ground), and cologne (the cheapest). The more oils mixed in the final product means the longer the scent lasts on the skin, and very little has to be used.

When it comes to perfumes for women, it is a long history of women using various oils blended by hand in ancient times to the more modern way of making the fragrances, but scents for women are more popular today, and it seems the popularity continues with the blending of new fragrances.
