Minding Your Emotional Health

Relaxation With Ylang Ylang Therapeutic-Grade Essential Oil.

Ylang Ylang is a wonderful therapeutic-grade essential oil to use to bring about a sense of calm and relaxation. It can be helpful for reducing feelings of tension, anger and irritability.

It might even make you feel a little bit more romantic. The sweet-smelling flowers have long been used in Indonesia to decorate a new couple’s marriage bed. Ylang Ylang oil is often used in men’s colognes for a different floral fragrance than rose, which is commonly used in women’s perfumes.

Ylang Ylang can be used as a therapeutic-grade essential oil topically or internally. It usually does not need to be diluted when used externally, as it will only cause irritation to those with very sensitive skin, and is actually helpful for treating skin irritation. When taken internally, a drop should be added to four ounces of liquid such as rice or soy milk before consuming.

Ylang Ylang oil is a great treatment for stress and is wonderful to combine with other stress-reducing therapeutic-grade essential oils like lavender to create a soothing massage oil. Even if you don’t have someone around who can give you a massage, you can rub the oil into your hands or temples and neck to receive the peaceful effects of the oil.

Another good external use of Ylang Ylang is as a hair treatment. Using Ylang Ylang to produce more luxuriant, shiny hair has been popular in Asia for a long time. The oil can be applied directly to the hair or added to an oil that is massaged into the hair, allowed to sit for a while and then rinsed off.

You can also add a drop to your hair brush before brushing your hair to get the benefits all the time. Some people say that Ylang Ylang may also be helpful in growing hair or treating dandruff.

Taken internally, Ylang Ylang therapeutic-grade essential oil is said to reduce high blood pressure, calm rapid breathing and rapid heartbeat, and perhaps heal intestinal problems.

Excessive use of Ylang Ylang can cause headaches, but there are few other known side effects of using the oil. It is considered safe for all people over the age of 2.

While using Ylang Ylang therapeutic-grade essential oil to help you relax is probably the most popular use for the oil, it’s also a great treatment for your hair and can help calm your body inside and out. It’s a great oil to have on hand if you like giving or receiving massages, and is a wonderful drug-free way to bring a little peace and calm into your life.

Always wash your hands before and after the use of therapeutic-grade essential oils and avoid contact with your eyes.
